一、课程的性质、目的和要求
《中药英语》是一门中医药英译的技能课、基础课,是培养学生中医药英译技能的基础课程,通过《中药英语》课程的学习,使学生成为既懂中医药又懂中医药英语的人才和中医药国际交流的主力。本课程介绍了中药起源、炮制、分类、功效、中药说明书、中药安全性、中药有效性、药膳和中药科研发展等话题,让学生在已学习了中医学相关知识的基础上,提高其中药起源、炮制、分类、功效、中药说明书、中药安全性、中药有效性、药膳和中药科研发展等内容及相关专业术语的英语语言表达和翻译能力。共设置32学时。
《中药英语》课程的学习目的和求,旨在提高学生中药英语的听、说、读、写的能力;培养实际运用语言的能力,要求必须做到专业术语表达的正确性、准确性,同时达到英语语法方面的正确性、规范性以及语言的流畅性。平时作业量应不少于8学时,除了完成课内练习外,还应在每个章节讲授完之后布置与本章节所学内容相关的翻译作业。

Unit One An Overview of Chinese Materia Medica (4学时)
Introduction for TCM translation
要求:
To understand the history and development of Chinese medicine, as well as the terms related to Chinese herbs
Unit Two Tastes and Properties of Chinese Herbal Medicine (4学时)
要求:
To grasp the basic idea of five tastes and four qi
To understand the ascription of actions to herbs as well as the concept of herbs entering specific channels
Unit Three Classification and Actions of Chinese Herbal Medicine (4学时)
要求:
To grasp the properties, sources, distributions, actions and uses of Hunangqi
To understand the introduction of Shennong and three-category groupings of herbal medicines
Unit Four Processing and Preparation of Chinese Herbal Medicine (4学时)
要求:
To grasp the methods of processing and terms related to the processing of Chinese medicinals
To understand the aims of processing
Unit Five Chinese Herbal Formulas (4学时)
要求:
To grasp the main points of herbal combinations against some diseases
To understand the basic concepts and main points of modern research of Chinese herbal formulas
Unit Six Safety of Chinese Herbal Medicine (4学时)
要求:
To grasp the basic idea of toxicity of Chinese herbal medicine as well as terms related to it
To understand the possible cause of the toxic effect and techniques of toxicity assessment of Chinese herbal medicine
Unit Seven Efficacy of Chinese Herbal Medicine (4学时)
要求:
To grasp the basic idea of efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine as well as the efficacy of Gegen in clinical application
To understand the efficacy of Chinese herbal preparation in treating asthma and atopy
Unit Eight Prescription Drug Information (4学时)
要求:
To grasp the guidelines for written prescription drug information as well as how to use herbal supplements safety
To understand the new format of prescription drug
三、教学方法
基于《中药英语》课程的应用性和实践性要求,因此教学过程中,采用了课堂讲授、中药英语翻译练习、中药学英译方法和技巧分析、译文讲评等多种方式进行,灵活使用多种教学方法,坚持以“学生的学为主题,教师的教为引导”的原则,根据学生学习记忆的发展规律,并利用多媒体教学,采用学导式教学法,激发学生学习的积极性。同时,采用PBL教学法(Problem-based learning),在学生课前预习讨论的基础上,教师引入中药英语翻译案例,引导学生发现问题,解决问题的能力。
教学要重视教材本身,注重培养学生中药英译能力,培养中医药专业方面的高级复合型、国际型人才。本课程的教学,将贯彻知识传授与技能培养并重的方针。课堂教学注重理论知识的科学性、完整性、实用性、突出重点。充分运用图片、模型、PPT幻灯片、Flash动画、多媒体课件(影音资料)等教具和仪器设备,开展实践性教学,以提高和巩固教学效果。
四、成绩考核方法
教学评价采用形成性评价,考核总成绩=平时成绩×30%+考试成绩×70% 。
平时成绩的评定:考勤、各项课堂表现、写作作业检查的综合测评,由主讲老师对学生的平时成绩进行评定。
考试成绩的评定:考试采取闭卷方式,以笔式为主,考试时间为120分钟。考试范围应涵盖所讲授的内容,考试内容应能客观反映出学生医学英语写作的能力。
五、与其它课程的联系与分工
此课程是一门英语语言技能课程,是基础英语和中医学专业的桥梁课程。
